100% success. I am taking one full day off, then I will email and call so we can all get together before I go. I think this whole thing, the taller and the show, was beyond anything I could have expected.
Love,

Amor,
ZS
I think that we can do 3 teams. 1 team to put the pictures on the streets walls, another one leading by Silvia to some stores and the other team with me to go to the rest of the stores, because we know which stores are and everything. We have supplies for every team.
Duh! I have to pick my lady up at the airport and bring her to mi pequino casa at 11:40AM, so I will have all of the plans and stuff dropped off at the front desk, with instructions, and I will be there closer to 1.

Read more...Coco! The blog is so wicked! Nice :-)
I just remembered that Zoe said that maybe it would be nice to have a counter in the blog, to have an idea about how many people get to see it. During, after or during the event :-)
I believe that you can include it as a gadget (configuration/design).
I tried, but I believe I don't have rights to do it (only posts....that's why I am posting it!)
besos

Coco, has mandado el vinilo?

During the past two weeks has taken place in the workshop Encendida House Hello. How are you?, With the aim of curating the exhibition of American photographer Zoe Strauss. The result can be seen in the neighborhood of Lavapies as a great museum open.
The accessibility of art is one of the main themes in the work of photographer, who finds in the Madrid district a place very close to the suburbs of Philadelphia where it tends to create and exhibit. Footbath is not an accident but the logical choice of a scenario in direct dialogue with the images taken.
In this process, participants have portrayed a Footbath sifted through the conceptual goal of Strauss, erecting a neighborhood star of the photographs taken during the workshop.
Footbath, therefore, the only scenario for exposure and center for all twenty eyes of Zoe Strauss.
Slideshows will be 10% Spain folded into the existing body of work.
Projections will happen at both the solar and La Casa Encendida.
Along the route, there will be the smaller images, with larger groupings at the Bibliotech at the Metro, the theater back doors, the ventanas on either side of calle Valencia before Calle Dr. Forquet and in the window of the store on Ronde Valencia.
Workshop Exhibition:
All photos have been approved, but they want you to put it on cardboard or a carton of some kind... someone will be there at six to explain.
Vinyl design with measurements has to get to Ignacio tonight.

Budget is in and so now the route is locked, with varied sizes of the smaller images.
1. I have to reconfigure the slideshow today, which is about a minimum 12 hour job.
2. Bring the additional photos to be copied
3. Decide the order and placement of the smaller images, and think about the shops... Silvia and Aitor! Thanks so much for nailing that shop on Ronde Valencia!
for the exterior papering supplies, we only need the brown craft paper and to insure that we have buckets
Friday-
in the evening we can start to put the color photo copies in the windows of the stores.
Saturday-
11 AM I have to pick up my wife at the airport
Between Noon and 2PM people can come to work on the exterior color copies.
-----
I have to be available for the slide show test for both projectors when they tell me, that means at any point on Saturday. And I have to be available any time from now until Saturday when the solar is opened.
Today, can someone help me to make a comprehensive schedule for what needs to happen Friday through the exhibition?
Gracias!
Gracias!
Hello people, i couldn't do anything about the blog today because i was making the final for the vinil. I sent to you, but anyway i wanted to put some photos of the stuff we made yesterday so we can document the crazy process!. By the way I have to say sorry and thank you to Zoe because of the freedom she is giving to us, and the patience with our difficulties for deciding stuff. Sometimes I think we spend more time with our work than with hers. I think I am learning more about social groups than ever!.
Tomorrow i will spend some time with the blog.
Today i didn't come because i had another meeting, but i missed you a lot!
See you tomorrow!.
Coco.

Coco.
You guys have to make your own prints for the show and I am giving 100 euros to do it. Today you have to decide the sizes, where they are going to get made, when they are going to get made, how they will be adhered to the wall, who will execute the installation of the photos, and find out the time frame of when the photos should be hung from Maria at La Casa Encendida.
Get your hustle on.
If anybody wants to see the documentary about the great and missed Chet Baker I have it. So if you give me a dvd tomorrow I can burn copies
Hi everybody,
we finally selected about 40 pictures for the poster and divided them in three folder A3, A5 and A6. They are all on Zoe's HD. The pictures have different resolution and different sizes, before printing them we should probably assign them the same resolution and definitely resize them accordingly to the paper size.
Who is gonna do that? Zoe, will you do that such that they can be printed tomorrow morning/early afternoon and brought to the taller in order to decide the final layout? How can we do?
Friday Night- Interior glass store window
Saturday Day- brown paper and 200 photos
i´ve tried to upload some pictures i tokk yesterday at class, but there is a constant error. i will bring them this afternoon.
see you!
hi!
I will be able to bring 1/2 of the printings (more or less) today. It is printing very slowly becouse of the size.
Zoe, can you have ready the other cd with the prints at the begining of the class? i can not stay longer today, I have to do some extra work.
Buenos Dias, mi amigos! Right to work, right to work.

2. I am very happy with the adhesion test for the outside photos. I think the brown craft paper looked amazing. It's fully appropriate as a defining separation from the wheat pasted posters and allows enough of the background images to show through. And, thanks to Aitor and Sylvia, there's a number of stores to put the photos in! On Friday, we'll begin installation in the store windows and on Saturday do the exterior paste up.
3. Today we need to nail down what supplies are needed for Saturday, the sizes of the windows that will get the brown craft paper. I need to know the store where Julien got the supplies and we need to triple them. We also need a "enjugador de goma"
http://www.lidcoproducts.com/Twelve_Inch_Wide_Format_Squeegee.cfm
I am still waiting to hear about the budget and the solar and will let you know asap as soon as I do. From today, until Thursday night I am working on the slide show.
Hi everyone, here are some more pictures of the workshop. Tomorrow I won´t be able to make it, but feel free to select whatever, in case you need some more to selected from.
Todos III was closed and that's the only spot I know to buy recordable cds/dvds so IF ANYONE COULD PLEASE BRING 2 BLANK DVDS OR 4 CDS THAT WOULD BE GREAT! If not, could someone please ask at La Casa Encendida if they have a few we could have and if they don't someone has to go and buy them!
Muchas gracias!
Hola. Today we need to split the class in 2... they need the design for your exhibition vinyl immediately. Coco, can you pump out a PDF or Illustrator file today?
And Julien has the papering supplies so I need people to help in the street with testing and making sure that the photos will hold for the night.
Also, I need people to go to store and ask if it's possible to put photos in the windows just for the night... not on the windows, but inside the windows, and we can do that on Friday. I will need at least 2 people to do that today.
Be ready to go.
Hi Zoe
we can't read the hard disc you gave me yesterday. could you record everything in a disc and bring it here today? Puerta del Sol, nº 4, 5ºfl
i am sending you an email with my phone number in case you need to contact me.

Hola a tod@s,
I created a set on flickr with my selected pictures from the taller, such that anyone who wants can have a look before tomorrow.

Guernica
2003:
from "UN conceals Picasso’s “Guernica” for Powell’s presentation" By David Walsh, February 8, 2003
"In an act with extraordinary historical resonance, United Nations officials covered up a tapestry reproduction of Pablo Picasso’s anti-war mural “Guernica” during US Secretary of State Colin Powell’s February 5 presentation of the American case for war against Iraq.
Picasso’s painting commemorates a small Basque village bombed by German forces in April 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. The painter, in desolate black, white and grey, depicts a nightmarish scene of men, women, children and animals under bombardment. The twisted, writhing forms include images of a screaming mother holding a dead child, a corpse with wide-open eyes and a gored horse. Art historian Herbert Read described the work as “a cry of outrage and horror amplified by a great genius.”
The reproduction has hung outside the Security Council chamber at UN headquarters in New York since its donation by the estate of Nelson A. Rockefeller in 1985. As the council gathered to hear Powell on Wednesday, workers placed a blue curtain and flags of the council’s member countries in front of the tapestry.
UN officials claimed that the cover-up was simply a matter of creating a more effective backdrop for the television cameras. “When we do have large crowds we put the flags up and the UN logo in front of the tapestry,” asserted Stephane Dujarric. New York Newsday, however, reported that “Diplomats at the United Nations, speaking on condition they not be named, have been quoted in recent days telling journalists that they believe the United States leaned on UN officials to cover the tapestry, rather than have it in the background while Powell or other US diplomats argued for war on Iraq."

Juan: 1 en La Plaza Lavapies to head to calle de la huerta del bayo 8

Tila and Laura, can you please give an update on what the theater says? Because to hang a large one there will be awesome. Muchas Gracias!
And who is heading up the works in progress class exhibition?
Tomorrow can we plan out who can do the actual "papering" of the photographs on Saturday? Do you guys have any ideas other than the spots I showed you guys today? Can people come up with some suggestions for the streets with very few exhibition spots? And people must be asked if their space can be used, so if you see a good place stop and ask some one there.
Can someone please make a comprehensive list of everything that has to get done? Tomorrow we should have the schedule for the rest of the class locked down. This is going to be awesome.
Para mí, antes de la clase ...
Julien: 10 en la Plaza de Lavapiés
10:30 Solar

I know the above doesn't make much sense because it's from Google translate.
